Foundation

Stefano Foundation is a not-for-profit organization with the following general objectives:

To maintain and safeguard the integrity of the Barque Stefano shipwreck story;
To establish and develop an organisation which takes a leadership role in setting up and operating the Stefano Trail and which acts at all times as a benevolent body;
To assist the sustainable development of the Stefano Trail;
To oversee and monitor the ongoing management and maintenance of the Stefano Trail;
To safeguard the ongoing viability of the Stefano Trail and its effective management;
To promote the Barque Stefano shipwreck story and the Stefano Trail;
To work with and complement other existing organisations which retain interest in the Stefano Trail;
To actively seek to preserve and promote the educational value of the Stefano Trail for all Australians as prescribed by the legacy of the late Aboriginal elder Sydney Dale;
To advocate on behalf of the organisation’s members to ensure research and tourism activities are consistent with local needs;
To actively seek to preserve and promote the Aboriginal identity and cultural heritage of Traditional Owners of the region;
To receive and expend grants from State and Commonwealth governments and other appropriate funding bodies; and
To establish educational, marketing, research, tourism and community initiatives and partnerships consistent with the organisation’s mission.
